Why the use of hydraulic breakers is becoming more and more omnipresent?

Time: 2025-10-10 10:53

Due to the rapid growth of technology processing and the continuous enhancement of equipment in various industries, the requirements for the excavators used are getting higher and higher. Hydraulic Breaker, also known as hydraulic hammer or hydraulic rocker. There are various names, but they all refer to the same implement, which is powered by liquid flow pressure to drive the piston to reciprocate, and the piston strikes the rod at high speed during the stroke, which breaks up ore, concrete and other solids. Why the hydraulic hammer breaker is so popular and more widespread, today we will dive in hydraulic breaker performance and impact factor to attract consumers.

The four key hydraulic breakers components

1.The hydraulic breakers have accumulators: the accumulators are filled with nitrogen, which uses the hydraulic breaker to store the remaining energy and the energy of the piston recoil during the previous blow, and releases the energy at the same time during the second blow to increase the striking capacity. Therefore, generally small ones do not have accumulators, and medium and large ones are equipped with accumulators.

2.The hydraulic breakers have impact energy-enhanced structural design: the hydraulic breakers adopt the optimization design concept, increases the stroke of the piston and cylinder block, and adopts the same diameter of the piston and the brazing rod, so that the hydraulic breaker and the main carrier have a better matching effect, rational use of high output energy, energy saving, and high work efficiency.

3.The hydraulic breakers are processed and manufactured using high-quality materials and special precision technology: the materials of important parts such as pistons, main body bolts, front and back head, cylinders, and rear parts of the main body have undergone strict quality inspection, which can ensure the quality. The main parts such as pistons, front and back head, cylinders, and rear parts of the main body are manufactured using most advanced heat treatment equipment, and we have many years of technical experience that ensure the stability of excellent quality.

4. The hydraulic breakers have light weight and low maintenance cost: the built-in structure of the control valve based on the design concept of simple structure, few failures and easy maintenance. Newly developed and manufactured products with simple structure, light weight and easy handling; The number of disassembly and assembly parts are small, and the costs are reduced; The built-in structure of the control valve prevents damage to the parts of the hydraulic breaker due to external impacts. In addition, the simple structure reduces the number of failures, which also reduces maintenance and usage costs.

The above four points, for the characteristics of the hydraulic breakers have been clearly expressed, if there are customers who are interested in the hydraulic breakers or have any questions about hydraulic maintenances, feel free to contact our company’s customer service at any time, or visit our official website or factory, we extend our most sincere welcome upon your arrival., our company philosophy underlined with " Quality changes the future " to provide you high-quality service.

How to Use Hydraulic Breakers Appropriately to Ensure the Excavator is Not Damaged

The power source of the hydraulic breakers is the oil flow pressure provided by the pumping station of the excavator, backhoe or loader, which can more effectively clean up the soil in the crevices of floating stones and rocks when excavating the foundation of the building, roads, tunnels profiling or mining. Because the hydraulic breakers are relatively fast reciprocating impact movement, the oil return speed is fast and the relative pulses are large, resulting in the acceleration of hydraulic oil aging and the hydraulic system of the excavator will also be damaged. The excavator should be protected when using the hydraulic breaker to avoid damage to the excavator. In the following points, we will introduce in detail how to use a hydraulic breaker appropriately to ensure that the excavator is not damaged.

Appropriate engine speed. Since the hydraulic hammer breakers have low working pressure and flow requirements, they can work at medium throttle; If the large throttle work will not only not increase the striking force, it will also cause the hydraulic oil to heat abnormally, which will also cause great damage to the hydraulic system, the oblique strike also lead damage of the piston and chisel;

Replace the oil seal in time. The oil seal is a wearing part, it is recommended that the hydraulic breaker components work for about 400~1000 hours, and replace the oil seal of the breaker once; When the oil seal leaks, stop working immediately, replace the oil seal, whether the dust on the side is easy to enter the hydraulic system, damage the hydraulic system, damage the hydraulic pump. Operators should regular check maintenance handbook and respect daily maintenance hours;

Keep the pipeline clean, keeping pipeline clean it thoroughly when installing the hydraulic breaker pipeline, and connect it to the inlet and return circuit;

Correct buttering posture, frequency, quantity. If the lubricating grease is replenished in the suspended state of the steel brazing, the grease will enter the blow chamber, and abnormal high-pressure oil will be produced in the strike chamber during the strike, which will enter the hydraulic system and damage the hydraulic pump;

Use a high-quality hydraulic hammer breaker. Low quality hydraulic breakers are prone to problems in design, manufacturing, inspection and other links, and the failure rate is high during usage, which is more leading to cause damage to the excavator.

Hydraulic oil volume and pollution. Since hydraulic oil contamination is one of the main causes of hydraulic pump failure, the contamination status of hydraulic oil should be confirmed in time. Lack of hydraulic oil will cause cavitation phenomenon resulting in hydraulic pump failure, breaker piston cylinder strain, etc.; Recommendation: Check the oil level before daily use.

The above is about how to use a hydraulic breaker without damaging the excavator. The hydraulic breaker is used in conjunction with the excavator, and the two complement each other, and both are indispensable under certain operating conditions. I hope the above content is helpful to you, and the correct operation method ensures the efficiency of work. If you have any questions regarding maintenance issues, please feel free to contact us.

This is the correct way to install the breaker pipeline!

When it comes to hydraulic breakers, everyone must know that the tools used in excavation projects that can usually be seen in the construction on the highway, residential building constructions, mining, and the pipeline of the hydraulic breaker is one of the parts that need to be paid attention to in the hydraulic breaker can be intact, and its use and maintenance have always attracted everyone's attention. Therefore, we share these few points with you, the common methods of installing hydraulic breaker pipelines, the specific operations are as follows:

The hydraulic hammer pipeline installation, first is of all the double-line main pipes and branch pipes: from the lubrication pump out to the oil inlet of all distributors, the pressure is relatively high. Cold-drawn seamless steel pipes are usually used, and the specified steel material. Do not use pipes with severe rust;

Secondly, the pipeline of the hydraulic breaker should be fed to the oil pipe: from the distributor out to the oil inlet (bearing seat oil hole) of all lubrication points, the pressure is relatively low. Drawn copper pipes are usually used, which are convenient for piping when bent. There are also cold-drawn seamless steel pipes or stainless-steel pipes;

if the hose joint is used when the moving parts are connected, there are many breaker accessories, and the method should not only be correct in use, but also pay attention to the usual maintenance work.

To sum up, they are the correct and common methods for installing the pipeline of the hydraulic breaker compiled by the BLT engineers. This information’s are for your reference only.

Do you store accessories for your hydraulic breakers?

Hydraulic breakers are more effective at removing floating stones, removing hard soil and mud from rock crevices when excavating the foundation of a building. The work of hydraulic breakers is also inseparable from the accessories of the hydraulic breaker. So how to store hydraulic breaker accessories?

1. The room must be kept dry.

2. To prevent damage before the next use, store accessories in a way that shields them from other things in the room.

3. An anti-rust treatment is necessary because the item will be stored for an extended period. Otherwise, you may discover it has rusted when you attempt to use it again.

4. When storing the hydraulic breaker, try to place it vertically or lay it flat on a wooden floor, and choose the placement method that suits your needs.

5. Before long-term storage, it is necessary to confirm that all parts of the hydraulic breaker are in good condition, and if there is damage, it needs to be repaired, and all accessories must be maintained before storage.

The content regarding the storage of hydraulic breaker accessories is briefly introduced here. The hydraulic breaker is powered by pressure oil supplied by the pumping station of the excavator or loader. We welcome new and old customers to purchase our products and will continue to provide satisfying products and services to everyone.

What are the operating environments of hydraulic breakers?

Hydraulic breakers have become an important tool for hydraulic excavators. Some people install them on excavator loaders or wheel loaders for demolition operations.

Impact energy enhanced structural design: The hydraulic breaker adopts an optimized design concept, which increases the stroke of the piston and cylinder block, and uses the same large diameter for the piston and chisel rod. This design ensures a good matching effect between the breaker and the main machine, enabling the rational use of high output energy, energy saving, and extremely high work efficiency. The following is an introduction to the scope of use for hydraulic breakers:

1. Repairing highways and removing cement pavement on highways.

2. Demolishing buildings and crushing reinforced concrete are the primary uses of hydraulic breakers.

3. Manufacturing and transformation in municipal and garden projects.

4. Opening mountains in railway construction.

5. Removing a ship's hull and rust removal.

6. Cleaning and dismantling furnaces, and dismantling equipment in the metallurgical industry.

7. Mining exploration.

When choosing hydraulic breakers, the principle to follow is to select the appropriate hydraulic breaker based on the excavator model and the operating environment.

Workaround for a Hydraulic Breaker Suddenly Stopping During Operation

Hydraulic breakers have become an essential tool for hydraulic excavators. They are widely used for crushing operations, representing a new and continuously improved technology that is broadly accepted due to its superior performance. However, operational failures are inevitable.

Here are solutions for a hydraulic breaker that suddenly stops working during usage:

Inappropriate Bushing Replacement. When the hydraulic breaker stops working immediately after replacing the bushing, and pressure does not build up (though a striking action occurs after slightly lifting the breaker), it's often due to the new bushing. The replacement can position the piston too high, causing small control oil circuits for the reversing valve in the cylinder body to close at the starting position. This causes the reversing valve to stop operating, leading to the breaker's stoppage.

Accumulator Parts Falling into the Pipeline. Inspection may reveal that deformed parts from the accumulator have broken off and are stuck in the reversing valve.

Reversing Valve. If other hydraulic breaker components are intact, inspection of the reversing valve may show that it is sticky, has poor sliding action, and is prone to jamming.

Oil Seepage into the Rear Cover. In this scenario, the hydraulic breaker's striking force gradually weakens and then stops entirely. When the nitrogen pressure is measured, it is found to be too high. After releasing the pressure, the hydraulic breaker strikes again but soon stops, with the pressure measuring high once more. Upon dismantling, it is often found that the upper cylinder body is filled with hydraulic oil, which prevents the piston from being compressed backward, causing the breaker to fail.

The methods outlined above can be used to inspect hydraulic breakers that have stopped working. Additionally, personnel must ensure that main parts such as the piston, the main front and back head, the cylinder, and the main body rears are in good condition.

How to solve the oil leakage phenomenon of the hydraulic breaker?

Hydraulic breakers are usually powered by hydrostatic pressure to drive the piston to make repeated movements back and forth. When the piston of the hydraulic breaker completes its strike, it hits the chisel rod at high speed. The chisel rod then breaks solid materials such as rocks and concrete.

When a hydraulic breaker develops an oil leak, how should we solve the issue?

Identify the Cause. Before solving the oil leakage problem, we must first determine the cause. An oil leak can be caused by an abnormality in the seal itself or by other issues even if the seal appears normal.

Oil Leakage Between the Cylinder and the Upper Body. This is usually caused by loose bolts and nuts. In this case, you need to retighten the bolts and replace any damaged seals-rings.

Oil Leakage Between the Chisel Rod and the Front Cover. For the hydraulic breaker, oil leakage at this position is often very serious. Maintenance personnel must carefully check whether the leaking fluid is grease (butter) or hydraulic oil. Then, check the seal for damage and replace it immediately if any damage is found.

Oil Leakage at Low Pressure, but Not at High Pressure. The main reason for this phenomenon is that the roughness of the assembly surface of the hydraulic breaker is too poor. To fix this, you can improve the surface roughness and use seals with relatively low hardness for better sealing.

Oil Leakage After Main Valve and Cylinder Surface Repair. If the reinstalled valve body leaks oil after the main valve and cylinder surface have been repaired, the oil passages need to be thoroughly cleaned.

Action on Leakage: Once there is an oil leakage phenomenon in any part of the hydraulic breaker, the breaker should be stopped immediately. A detailed inspection should be performed, and the cause should be repaired immediately. To reduced efficiency the cause of hydraulic breaker oil leakage.

The power source of our common hydraulic breaker is the pressure of oil that provided by the pumping station of the excavator, backhoe or loader, which can more effectively clean up the soil in the crevices of floating stones and rocks when excavating the foundation of the building, roads, and mining exploration. After working for a long time, it is inevitable that there will be failures, and the following will introduce the reasons to reduce efficiency of the hydraulic breaker.

Due to the wear of the outer surface of the piston and cylinder body, the original clearance increases, the high-pressure of oil leakage increases, and the pressure decreases, resulting in a decrease in the impact energy of the hydraulic breaker, so the work efficiency is reduced. In the process of use, due to the inappropriate use of the operator, the wear of accelerated parts, the transition wear of the upper and lower guide sleeves, the loss of guidance, the axis of the brazing rod and the piston is tilted, the piston in the work of striking the brazing rod, its end face will have an external force at a certain angle to the middle line of the piston, the external force can decompose an axial reaction force and a radial force. The radial force makes the piston biased to one side of the cylinder block, so that the original gap disappears, the oil film is destroyed, forming dry friction, accelerating the wear of the piston and the cylinder bore, and the gap between the piston and the cylinder block increases, resulting in increased leakage, so that the impact energy of the hydraulic breaker decreases, thus reducing the work efficiency of the breaker. Replacing the new piston cannot solve the problem, the new piston works with the worn cylinder block, because the cylinder block has been worn, the outer surface roughness increases, which will accelerate the wear of the new piston, and the working efficiency of the hammer breaker can still not be restored.

If the work efficiency of the hydraulic breaker is reduced, you can investigate according to the above reasons, find the root of the problem and solve it, the hydraulic breaker has the advantage of high efficiency of usage, and continues to achieve wide application in the fields of construction and roads.

Learn about several classifications of hydraulic breakers

As an important auxiliary tool of excavators, the hydraulic breakers are more common form of application, and some people install the hydraulic breaker on the busy or wheel loader at both ends for crushing operations. Its main function is to improve the work efficiency of the project. To better apply machinery for construction operations, first of all, you should have a certain understanding of the relevant product knowledge of mechanical products, and the following will introduce several classifications of breakers.

The classification of breakers is mainly carried out according to the manufacturer's basic structure design and power form, such as:

1. According to the working principle: the hydraulic breakers are divided into three types: side mounded type, top mounted type and silenced type. The Top-Mounted Range stands out with its powerful impact design, making it ideal for vertical repetitive strikes, particularly in underwater environments, tunnel construction, or heavy demolition projects. Its flexibility and durability allow it to handle tough materials while ensuring precise control. The Side-Mounted Range, on the other hand, is lighter and easier to maintain. It is very popular in local markets due to its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. This type of breaker is often used for smaller tasks, such as asphalt removal or concrete breaking. It is appreciated for its low maintenance costs and compact design, which allows for use in confined spaces. Its low installation point provides precise control, making it ideal for demolition work in urban environments or in tight spots. The Silenced type (Sound Sur-pressed Range) is widely used in international markets and highly recommended by clients. Its key advantage is noise reduction, making it ideal for mining, urban construction, high altitude usage, and tunnel operations where low noise levels are required.

2. According to the feedback method, it can be divided into stroke feedback type and oil flow pressure.

3. According to the shell form, it can be divided into triangular and tower type crushers.

4. According to the classification of operation mode: hydraulic breakers are divided into two categories: handheld type and airborne type.

5. According to the classification of distribution valve structure: hydraulic crushers are divided into two types: built-in valve type and external valve type.

6. According to the noise level, it is divided into low noise type and standard type crusher.

7. According to the shell structure, it can be divided into splint type and box frame type crusher. The main structure of the splint breaker is divided into hammer body (movement) and bracket, of which the upper cleat and lower cleat play a protective role in protecting the movement, while the brazing rod is in direct contact with the material during the crushing operation.

Customers who use the hydraulic breaker for the first time need carefully read the relevant operation manual of the hydraulic breaker to prevent damage both the hydraulic breaker and excavator in the later work and improve the efficiency of usage.

What Are the Vulnerable Parts of a Hydraulic Breaker?

Since its introduction into the construction industry, the hydraulic breaker has always been one of the essential tools in building, roads construction, and bridge demolition. The use of the hydraulic breakers is not difficult, just follow the factory instructions or guideline. However, we should handle its accessories with care, as some parts are more prone to damage. The wearing parts that require attention are as follows:

Steel brazing pins. When the steel brazing pin becomes severely deformed, it is very difficult to replace. Therefore, after every 100 to 150 hours of operation, the contact surface between the steel brazing pin and the steel brazing should be changed so that both sides of the contact surface can be used. When changing the direction of the steel brazing pin, the contact surface of the shaft pin should be placed on the side of the steel brazing.

Steel brazing pointed steel rods are usually driven into soft rocks by hydraulic breakers to drill holes, which are then filled with explosives for blasting. They are also commonly used to pry rocks. If the end of the steel brazing becomes worn, it can easily slip. In this case, the end should be re-sharpened. However, after repeated grinding, the hardness of the steel brazing will gradually decrease. If the gap between the steel brazing and the guide sleeve becomes too large, the piston will not be able to strike the steel brazing correctly, that cause damage.

Other easily damaged accessories. other parts that are easily damaged include the front cover, stop pin, rubber screw, hydraulic seals, bracket side bolts, and hydraulic hoses. Therefore, every excavator should always be equipped with these spare parts in case of emergencies. In addition, the hydraulic seals should be replaced every 500 working hours. Working hours can be different according the type of hydraulic breakers and factories guidelines. If there is oil leakage it means the low-pressure oil seal may damaged and should be replaced by a professional.

When operating the hydraulic breaker, always ensure that the equipment is functioning properly to avoid safety accidents.

Hydraulic Breaker Strike Frequency Adjustment

The hydraulic breaker are important operating tools for the excavator. They can effectively break stones and rocks, speed up construction progress, and are widely used in mountain excavation, pavement breaking, road construction, bridge demolition, mine rock crushing, and other working conditions.

The hydraulic breakers are mainly composed of a cylinder block, piston rod, brazing rod, reversing valve, accumulator, oil seal assembly, and other mechanical parts. Under the combined action of these components, the hydraulic oil inlet kinetic energy and the upper accumulator kinetic energy push the cylinder rod upward to compress the nitrogen chamber. When it reaches the highest point, the reversing valve changes direction, and the combined kinetic energy of the hydraulic oil inlet and nitrogen compression pushes the cylinder rod downward to strike the brazing rod and complete the crushing work.

The frequency of the reciprocating motion is closely related to the striking efficiency. Common issues affecting breaker strike frequency include no striking, intermittent striking, low strike frequency, and weak striking. Therefore, it is important to understand the factors related to strike frequency adjustment and how to make the proper adjustments.

Generally, piston movement without striking, insufficient high-pressure oil flow into the hydraulic breaker, or piston jamming are all factors that affect the strike frequencies.

Under normal circumstances, if you want to adjust the strike frequency, you can do so by changing the stroke of the piston or adjusting the power source, while keeping the working pressure and hydraulic oil volume unchanged. The regulator is installed on the right side of the hydraulic breaker cylinder.

To adjust the strike frequency of the hydraulic breaker, use a wrench to remove the nut in front of the adjustment screw on the regulator, then rotate the adjustment screw. Turning the adjustment screw inward will result in a lower striking frequency, while turning it outward (approximately two turns) will increase the striking frequency to the desired level. What are the types of hydraulic breaker brazing rods?

The excellent performance of the hydraulic breaker hammer brazing rod is the basis to ensure the efficiency of demolition construction, the shape of the brazing rod has conical quadrilateral brazing rod, flat head brazing rod, flat brazing rod, etc., different brazing rods have certain differences in the demolition construction effect.

The cone quadrilateral brazing rod is a relatively commonly used one, the cone quadrilateral brazing rod has a lot of penetrating force, even very hard objects can be easily separated by the splitting force generated by its conical shape, it is characterized by concentrating the force at one point for crushing or demolishing, so that a strong strike force can be generated to break the surface at the point, even hard and difficult objects can be easily broken, such as high hardness rock, concrete, etc. It is suitable for operations with large crushing areas such as mountain opening, road construction, and house demolition.

Flat brazing rods, also known as straight head brazing rods, have a wide range of uses. In the same working environment, straight-head brazing rods are more wear-resistant because their shape is more suitable for handling hard substances, and all flat brazing rods are better used to break reinforced concrete. The straight head brazing rod is also suitable for excavation and trenching operations of sedimentary rocks, rocks with high hardness fractures, and various soft and neutral layered rocks.

Flat-head brazing rods are mainly used for crushing medium-hardness stones or small cracked stones. Its characteristics are: energy is released through the large surface of the flat head, without torsional force, and has a good crushing effect.

The principle of using hydraulic breakers is to choose the appropriate hammer breaker and brazing rod according to the actual working conditions. The choice of brazing rod is as important as the choice of hydraulic breaker, because the brazing rod is in direct contact with the material to be demolished and directly subjected to force, and an unsuitable brazing rod will have a great impact on the crushing effect and efficiency.
